COMEDE (Committee for health of exiles) was created in 1979 to meet the challenges of exiles arriving in France who were excluded from care. Comede welcomes asylum seekers and foreigners in precarious living situations to offer medico-psycho-social aide, and provides specialized services for prevention, health check, access to care, medico-legal expertise and training of professionals. In 37 years, they have welcomed and supported over 87,000 patients of 130 nationalities who have made Comede a unique vantage point of the health of exiles in France. Consultation activities (reception, care and support) and the Comede resource center (information, training and research) are inseparable to meet objectives of the association.
